A new type for Template Variables?

Hi all.
I have a VEERY simple solution for the multi-linguage content. The only thing that I need is a way to link together the translations of one page. That is, if I have
page1-en
page1-it
page2-en
page2-it
page2-es
I would like to have a way to link page1-en to page1-it and page2-*, so that it is possible for the user to jump to the translations of page1 when they are on page1 and to jump to the translation of page2 when they are on one of the page2.

I thought of modify the site_content table, adding two fields: lang and langRefId. But, anyway, it would be easier to have two TV that do the stuff.

The problem is that we don’t have any TV that can represent an internal link. The simple answer could be "make it a text template variable and put there the id of the page"... but it would be better to have something similar to the click-and-set behaviour for choosing the parent.
