Indeed, and forgive me but it looks like anyone who wants this feature now can just hack MODx to include this simple change. Just be sure to re-apply the hack every time you upgrade MODx (unless the MODx release includes a parser that has been changed to include the feature anyway).
It is the testing part that proves the biggest time consumer, and as this feature is a natural side-effect of planned changes anyway it doesn’t seem a particularly useful investment of the core team’s time.
However, if a number of MODx users report that this tweak works perfectly with no side effects, and a number of people express demand for it, then there is every chance that it could be included in a 0.9.5.1.
