TVs for web links

Hello,

reading "save_content.php" and "mutate.content", I don’t understand why it is not possible to change the template for web links.
This could be useful to handle web links as we do with Ditto.

Web links don’t get a template because they are never parsed. As soon as the document is determined to be a "reference" (web link) its content is immediately passed to the redirect function without any further processing.

Web links don’t *use* a template; that doesn’t really explain why you can’t specify which template they don’t use. Given that this would determine which set of TVs they can use, it could be very useful.

I dare say this is simply because you cannot associate a TV to a document without an intervening template, but agree that it should be possible to do this.

This is another of those things that should be addressed with the new data structures for 1.0. You’ll be able to attach chunks, or snippets, or TV’s, or generic meta data, etc. directly to a document, web link, web service, or any kind of resource that can be represented by a unique URI within MODx, with or without a template.
