how do you decode the password?

You don’t. It’s stored as an MD5 hash.

You can generate a new MD5 hash and overwrite the DB field if you want. A nice MD5 calculator can be found at:

And BTW, I always use SHA-1 for passwords on my applications with a fallback to MD5 in case SHA-1 is not available (99.99% of cases it is)

With phpMyAdmin, you can just replace the hash with your new password, then select MD5 from the "function" dropdown.

Actually, I’ve been playing with the connector for modx<>osc ... trouble in password land ... ugh.
