what's the difference with Wordpress?

Hi,
I hope noone will throw stones at me for asking in what ways Modx is different or better than Wordpress. I’m asking because a developer mentioned Modx saying it might be a better solution for a webshop project I have which will require to integrate a cms/blogging solution with Cubecart.

Wordpress is a great blogging tool, the capabilities of which for blogging currently surpass that of MODx’s default snippets/plugins.

MODx is a Content Management Framework that allows you to build anything you’d like much more quickly and simply than traditional build-from-scratch or hack-to-death methods. More simply, it should be possible to build Wordpress’s functionality in MODx, but you’ll never be able to replicate MODx with Wordpress. (Well, at least not without boatloads more work, the end result which would not really resemble WP at all... ) Too boot, you’d still have a clean upgrade path with MODx when you make custom applications assuming you use it’s API and event system.

But when you say that you can "build anything", that is if you have coding skills?

That’s funny I figured this was a modX forum mod or something. I guess I’ll have to check out the simpleMachines forum. Does modX have a forum’s type application module type.
I attempted a Wordpress install today, it’s stalled same as the modX one did, and my host support ticket on their supported auto-install application is now 8 hours old.
Man life’s just rough.
