The WordPress 2.0 authors added a TinyMCE plugin that adds a more splitter.....you just gotta see it to believe it.
In the GUI you see a dotted line that says more on the bottom right.
Then in HTML view you see the <!-- more --> splitter!

I’ll see if I can dissect this tomorrow (its nearly 2006 here!) and figure out how to make one for MODx!

Funny you mention it, I tested WP 2.0. There is some AJAX there now, little stuff but nicely done "à la GoogleMail".
Post by email is really nice, always missed it with Textpattern (though there is an XMLRPC plugin). The splitter thing is quite useful, many CMS have a plugin that does the same thing (SPIP, DotClear or txp come to mind...).
One of the little things I like in WordPress are :
* the embeded XFN generator in the blogroll tool
* the dropdown select allowing you to tweak your themes with no knowledge of CSS or XHTML
* the password protect post option

I solved it by creation of {{spliter}} chunk with content <!--splitter--> ...
