Is it possible to have a News plugin for ModX that also has an Archive page where users can search back on old news articles?

Anybody able to help me here?

Check into the Reflect Snippet it should be just the ticket.

Hmm, I was told by someone that ditto would be easier.

It’s a shame that ModX can’t operate like a Blog, so you can have a page called Events, and in Events we have stories that have categories. So in the sidebar I can pull in a list of all the categories and clicking on such a category then pulls in all the events/news from that particular category, and then obviously you can then click through to the event article and still have all the categories in the left sidebar.

I know I can do this with Symphony, but modX doesn’t seem to offer me that power.

You create a news event or story in each news page.

Ditto snippet helps you aggregate the news in a list forrmated as you wish and want...
it also can be used to show news features in a sidebar or in the home page.

Jot snippet helps you to add and manage comments to a news item or event.

Reflect snippet helps you do an archive of all the news or articles that you write in your site.

Shame that it’s not that simple. It is with Symphony, but unfortunately I have to use ModX.

In another thread it was mentioned that if you install the sample data
when you first install MODx, there is an example for a blog with all
the above ready to go...

What thread is this?
