I tried my pages through the W3C validator. Most are now sorted and with few errors. But I have massive errors (up to 20-30) with the Amazon associates links that I have embedded, direct from Amazon. Do you think this may affect my SEO rating or user performance?

How do you add Amazon Associates link? Through an iframe?
BTW I don’t think that 30 W3C errors can affect your SEO or the user performance, unless the Amazon iframe/widget loads very slow.

Usually I follow W3C guidelines but I don’t take them too seriously. During the development of a website it is good practice to keep W3C errors at a minimum, in this way you can notice instantly if there are common errors like open tags, img without alt, etc etc, but sometimes you cannot avoid to make "errors", so if they do not affect the layout or the performance I wouldn’t bother too much about them.
