I would love to hear about them as would love to have a solid add-on to MODx which would allow us developers to easily switch between a desktop and mobile view of the same content documents.

Yes, I have a pending project that may use this... the problem is that the requirements and solutions are highly variable, so it’s not the type of thing that can be easily provided as an add-on. E.g. if we support a .mobi version of the site, my thought was to detect the domain name being requested, and if it’s .mobi, then I’d override the set template for any page with a simplified template. But this won’t work if you need to do the switch based on browser detection instead of domain name detection. And there’s the question of how to define the alternate template... should it be a TV that users can set? Should it be global? The problem is even more complex if you want to provide alternate content on those pages, not just alternate templates.
It’s possible to make a canned solution for this, but it may not be a "one-size-fits-all" solution.
