I am new to modx and cms in general, and i wanted to see if i could get some help in how to achieve something. What i would like is to have a top menu, depending on the page you are on, the button that represents that category will be in a "on" state. How would i go about doing this in the most efficient way?

Wayfinder automatically adds a class to the current item if you specify it in the snippet call, &selfClass=`current` or whatever you would like it to be. You can also use &hereClass=`here` which will tag the current page and its parent and grandparents all the way up the menu tree. You can use both, which is convenient for styling drop-down menus while using the selfClass to maintain a different style for the current top-level button, tab, or whatever.
