I would like to be able to over-ride the global friendly alias path system setting for specific containers.
I have some containers which I’d like to render like folders in the URL path. The global setting takes care of that.

In other cases, I’d like to be able to add a container that serves as an organizational folder only. There may be 100 documents under this container, and I want them to be separated from the rest of the resources in the manager. However, I don’t want the holding container to be reflected at all in the URL?

Is there some way to do this?

    Thanks,
    -Brian

      No?

All I could do for now is to disable the Friendly Alias Path.
This allows me to organize many pages under a folder without affecting the URL path.

For cases where I do need to add a folder to the URL path, I append the path to the URL Alias. I.e. "folder\mypage".

Seems like this will work but it’s not ideal.

This is exactly what I wanted to do, and for the same reason.

        Any ideas would be welcome.

I don’t know of any solution other than the one I mentioned. I entered a feature request for this: http://bugs.modx.com/issues/3942.

I think this feature could be a big enhancement to Modx. For example using a context switching gateway allows you to do a lot of cool things. It’s so cool that I end up creating a lot of different contexts for tests, etc...

Virtual Folders that would allow you to organize the contexts in groups would be nice too. ex: A/B Tests/MyContext1, A/B Tests/MyContext2

You can use Contexts (and thus override settings) for specific subfolders in your site. See Having contexts show up as subfolders for more information.
