    Hello,

    I’m getting a Parse Error during install:

    "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /homepages/37/d163427121/htdocs/modx/index.php on line 69"

    line 69 of modx/index.php is:

    if (!is_object($modx) || !($modx instanceof modX)) {

    The if statement is as follows:

    if (!is_object($modx) || !($modx instanceof modX)) {

    @ob_end_flush();

    $errorMessage = ’<a href="setup/">MODx not installed. Install now?</a>’;

    @include(MODX_CORE_PATH . ’error/unavailable.include.php’);

    header(’HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable’);

    echo "<html><title>Error 503: Site temporarily unavailable</title><body><h1>Error 503</h1><p>{$errorMessage}</p></body></html>";

    exit();

    }

    I receive the error at the very last step of Install when I click on the log in button (deleting-the-install-folder check box is checked)

    ModX version: 2.0.7

    I performed another fresh install and received the same error.

    Pre-installation tests were all successful:

      Did you ever get any responses to this? I’m having the same problem but with an existing installation that I haven’t been back to in about a month.

      And in response to the note below - I’m using ModXRev - ServerOS -Linux 2.6.32.19; PHP version 5.2.16, MYSQL Version - 5.0.91-community-log; pdo_mysql is not installed; Firefox 3.6.13.

        I have same error. I looked at the code and see link to ’/setup/’ at line 71.

        $errorMessage = '<a href="setup/">MODx not installed. Install now?</a>';

        When i follow this link, i see the problem:

        FATAL ERROR: MODx Setup cannot continue.

        Wrong PHP version! You’re using PHP version 4.4.9, and MODx requires version 5.1.1 or higher.

        So, this error because old php version. Possibly, this message must be included in first page.
