drop down menus

Hi everyone,

Before creating this post i searched the site and read some articles (http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=29076.0) but that didn’t answer my question.

I want to create a simple drown down menu. I have searched modxcms for snippets and no luck. My current settings for wayfinder are [!Wayfinder?startId=`0`&level=`2` !] . I have tried setting the level to 0, 1, and 2 but no luck.

This is a very basic feature every cms has. I’m just not able to find it here. I would appreciate any help you guys have to offer.

I downloaded the book and saw sub menus tutorials but nothing about drop down menus. Since the book has 148 pages, I didn’t read through it but skimmed and searched.

Ryan, all cms systems have a simple way to create a drop down menu. Isn’t there a snippet made for this purpose? If no, then are you guys working on it or need me to look into it on my free time.

There are numerous examples of drop down menus, including the one that ships with the demo content when you install MODx using Wayfinder. There is no industry standard drop down methods and MODx does not like to force people into ways of doing things. It goes against our principal of being flexible and allowing developers to choose and implement the method that works best for their particular application.

If you just need something that just works: use the version supplied with the demo content.

Read my comment again. I was trying to tell you that once i get free time, I would like to make a snippet that would allow ModX users to create a drop down menu. I placed emphasis on the word free because I didn’t want other people looking at this post and constantly asking where it was.

Secondly, I appreciate the hard work you guys place into this CMS everyday. However, in this case u did more bashing than helping. What’s your deal?

probably it wasn’t intended to sound demanding (emphasizing free time), but when i read this line, it did to me too. 

the snippet you are looking for is called "wayfinder", search the forum and you’ll find a lot of posts about it + you’ll get the support of a very friendly & helpfull community, if you appreciate the help of people doing this for free for a free product.

Just answer one question for me though. Name one time where founders of an open source CMS paid someone to create a simple module/snippet for them. If this actually happened, then I can understand the resentment you guys have over my comment.
