pages with dynamic content

Hi,

For a friend of me i’m making a website with oldtimers.
I want to make it possible for visitors to go to website.com/oldtimers/ford/model/and-so-on
I can do this by adding rules in the htacces-file which redirect all trafic to /oldtimers to an non-mod-x page, but then all the mod-x functionality like calling snippets is impossible.

How can I do this within MOD x?
I imagine I get a tree like:
-oldtimers
- *dynamic brand*
- *dynamic model*

Not exatly.
With dynamic paths, the content of a site is not dynamic, neither is the path.

With alias paths you can do this:
/oldtimers/ford/modelname/

normally you should do this for every car-brand and every model.
I want to make the page "ford" dynamic
/oldtimers/dynamic-car-brand/dynamic-model-name

I’m having a very hard time getting started, and my problem is similar to yours.

Let’s say I have a catalog with tens of thousands of products. I want to make a single page layout to show one product, and I also want to be able to make a GET request to each page. I think if I then put a page on my site with one A HREF for each product, the whole site can be made searchable (say, using AjaxSearch).

I can make a snippet that returns my product info, but what I can’t figure out is how you call a page node with extra GET parameters. Maybe there’s an easier way (or a MODx way) to do what I’m envisioning. What I really have in mind is "REST".

If I could figure out how to include a Snippet on a given page, and then have the query parameters be passed to that Snippet, I think I could do the rest.

Basically, you have a node "id=123", that includes one or more snippets... You call the page "http://mymodxsite.com/index.php?id=123&extra_param=abcd" ... So if node "123" contains "[[mysnippet]]", how does [[mysnippet]] get "extra_param" passed to it?
