Display a archived list of articles

Hi guys, i want to display a list of previous articles - do i use ditto? could you please point me in the right direction - thanks

There is a snippet that comes with modx (demo install) called menulist or something similliar. It list previous docs.
But sure ditto and reflect can do the same thing. You can choose it list by createdon, editedon, pub-date etc.

Ditto will give you next/previous buttons (if you add them) and you can use those for archiving purposes, but I think the better system is reflect which can create a wordpress like archive if I recall correctly.

Clearly there are other methods to accomplish your goal so it’s a question of choice, but I think reflect will best fit your needs.

do the archived files need to be published pages or can they be flat text files?

The only method I know of is if the news items are existing documents. You can’t use a text file with reflect for archiving purposes.

Correct me if i’m wrong.
