Didn’t there used to be a system setting for site_url? I don’t see it anymore... some templates that were using it broke. Am I going senile, or are some of these changing under the hood? I see the rb_base_url, but no site_url.

      I remember it as being there too. I guessed that it was to keep naive users from accidentally trashing the whole site, but I’m not sure.

      I made a list of the "missing" system settings with examples for the book (last time I checked, the placeholders still worked):

Site URL [[++site_url]] http://localhost/revo/
Groan. Thanks Bob for summarizing these. I wish they’d stop changing so I could code instead of retrofit.

          Ok, those placeholders ARE still there, and they work (at least site_url still works), but they do NOT appear in the System Settings. They are derived from the config file.

            Just in case anyone finds this, these still all work.

              site_url, base_url (and various other settings) are calculated at run-time (or set explicitly) in the config file unless you explicitly add a site_url system (or context) setting to your installation to override those. It has never been part of the installation by default.

                Jason, can they be treated like, say, site_name, or should we generally avoid them in code?

                  That is the intention, to make them available like any other System, Context, or User Settings.
