    Hi,

Rookie mistake: going from development to production status with a ModX site, so I was cleaning up all the various users I had created for test/use cases. When I logged out and logged back in with the remaining Admin account, i get a "You are not allowed to login from this location."

I have access to all the SQL files on the server. Is there something I can do to fix this, or do I have to go to all the different places I might have been when I created that account?

    Thanks,
    Gary

Your admin user should be user #1 in the modx_manager_users table. Check the modx_user_attributes and modx_user_settings tables for the user with an internalKey field value of 1 for the user_attributes table and also 1 for the user field value in user_settings. Actually, a bare-bones manager user account doesn’t have anything in the user_settings table. Make sure he has the role of 1 in the user_attributes table.

Also be sure to clear your browser cache and cookies for the domain.

        Susan,

Thanks for your help: that worked.

<off-topic> I gotta say, as I was doing all the research and tutorials over a year ago as I was exploring ModX, I was impressed by the level of support, and the sense of community. I also read all your introductory tutorials and background — very helpful! And now, here you are giving me a hand. Very cool! Just shows I’ve found the right platform for all our CMS development!</off-topic>

And now that I’ve got you for a moment, I noticed while tooling around among the various SQL files that in modx_user_settings, there’s an incorrect path set for the filemanager_path (leftover from a previous server — I guess I didn’t transfer the files properly to the new one). Is it safe to just blow that out directly in the database record, or is there a better way?

        Once again, thanks very much,
        Gary

I play in the database all the time, and so far haven’t trashed anything. If it’s for a specific user, you can just edit their particular user in the Manager (their User tab) if you prefer. Unless you want a specific path for a given user, you should be able to just leave it blank. You could check the Configuration, in both the File Manager tab and the Interface and Features tab to make sure the correct paths are set there.

Thanks. I think I see where things have gone off the rails.

            Cheers,
            Gary
