I was thinking due to the updates made to this old workhorse, that the base distribution needs to be updated to include this version instead of the original 1.0.

LIn_dateFormat: the date format can be configured via the snippet call using standard PHP date options.
LIn_titleLength: the number of characters returned via the snippet in the Title is now configurable.
LIn_descriptionLength: the number of characters returned via the snippet in the Description is now configurable
Simply: mine dealt with various presentation limitations. For example: if a title is 100 characters long and the template only has room for 25, the output can be limited to 25 with ’...’ being added to the end (after the snippet only pulls the left 22 characters in the string).

I just installed 0.9.6.2 locally and see that 1.01 was installed in that version. So we now have a newer 1.02 version ready for inclusion.
