What is a snippet?

I’ve been searching but to no avail can’t see what a "snippet" does?

I know what a module is though

Is there a way to add custom HTML blocks to templates?

’Snippets’ are php scripts that do stuff (whatever you program it to do in php).
a ’Chunk’ is an HTML blick that can be reused.

Ironically Modules are the most complicated and you got those first, the rest should be easy
