I was wondering if i can develop a portal system in modx where users can login upload feature stories to different categories as well as images for the stories. I was looking at Joomla to do the work but I heard its slow and we will be having a lot of visitors to the site. Any input is much appreciated. As i am new to modx and new to Joomla. So I want to narrow out which one I should put my full focus and attention to.
You can do this with modx. If it is the right tool for your project will depend on the amount of coding you will want to do. modx does not have a one stop solution for a portal, it does have most of the individual pieces but you need to piece them together (not as tough as it sounds). There are a few working portal type sites in modx, so it can be done. With Joomla you will have less flexibility but, if you can work within their boundaries, they are more likely to have a few ready-made options available (simply because they have a huge community).
