IMDB (movie db) fetch into TV's possible?

At this moment I use VCD-db to have a site with all my movies on it, which you can see at http://movies.firestarter.us/

Now I want to port this site to MODx so that I can get all my movies shown on my MODx site. Is it possible to use a IMDB fetch class to fetch the IMDB results into some pre defined template variables and to save the image of the cover to the filesystem?
Could somebody tell me how to change the value of tv’s when you save a document? This would be a good start to get this job done

I think it would be easier to write a custom snippet that would use ImDbFetch to cycle through your list of movies, retrieve each one, and save the image in the DB. (I’m assuming that you have the IMDB move code numbers stored already).

As an alternative, you could put the move codes in a TV and then use a snippet to get the images using ImDbFetch and display them when the page is accessed. That would be slower, but you wouldn’t have to store the images at all.

I have the movie codes, but I want to be able to add movies easy with MODx.

So my idea is to create TV’s like:

Title
IMDB Rating
Director
Production country
IMDB Category
Runtime
Cast

And then have the tv’s:
Fetch from IMDB (checkbox)
IMDB ID

I want this because there are also movies that are not in the IMDB (dutch movies, mostly comedy )

I think I would be able to invoke the IMDB class on document save. But maybe it is better to create a module that has it’s own database so that I can use a more complex datamodel (for example: I must be able to add multiple cast members). But I don’t know where to start? Where can I find information about creating my own module for MODx?
