File Upload for registered users

I have started working a a file upload for registered users. Registered users can view projects that have been alloted to them. So when they are browsing one of the projects, they can click on the file upload feature, browse to a file and upload it.

My script currently checks to see if a folder with the project name exists, if it doesn’t it creates one, and then uploads the file in either case.

The problem I have is that although this works reasonibly well...I can’t access that folder via FTP. Now I presume this is because the script I am using to upload is probably using a different user to the one that is accessing the folder as FTP...but how can I get around that?

Use the MODxManager’s file manager utility to access the files. Or make sure you only host on servers that use suexec to switch user to the script’s owner when running a script.

Does the script set folder permissions when it creates the folder?

If you have root ssh access to the server you can change the owner of the files.

PHP has chown capabilities but it only works for superusers:
