Ping and Trackback Snippets. Do They Exist?

As a SEO I frequently review and recommend scripts for clients. MODx is by far my favorite CMS for a number of reasons. If clients have CMS and blogging requirements, however, I recommend Drupal (for pure blogging WP is tough to beat). Therefore, two additions would make it truly stellar from my perspective: Ping and Trackback functionality.

Has anyone developed snippets/plugins for these functions so I can recommend MODx for both applications? Perhaps these functions are on the horizon in core?

There are sendping plugin&module and trackback toolset.
But they are written only in Japanese...

LOL. I agree. My Japanese is really rusty. Wait, no, it’s nonexistent.

I have been working on xmlrpc.php lately and there is trackback built into it but I haven’t finished it as I am too busy with other client projects but I’d be willing to help out with these if others are interested. This would go a long way to using MODx as a REAL WP-like blog platform (but better).

Ping is really very easy though as long as the onDocPublished works you should be able to send a ping to technorati or pingomatic or whatever services you need.

Ultimately this set: xml-rpc, ping and trackback should be bundled together as a ditto enhancement package that would make any MODx based blog killer.

Using xml-rpc with MODx would also enable people to manage their documents using Scribefire or other remote blog editor such as MarsEdit or any MTAPI based blog. The limitation would be that you wouldn’t be able to use tvs as the standard Blog API’s don’t have the capacity for any more fields.

In the zip file of SendPing plugin&module, english readme and english language file are already included.
So I guess you can understand what to do to set it up and how to use them.

But regarding Trackback Toolset, there’s no english readme and english language file.
I am now trying to translate japanese version into english, so give me some time.

Here are the english readme file and language file for Trackback Toolset by soushi.
I am not a good english speaker, so I hope someone out there who are fluent in English will brush up these files.

You’d better specify english language file in the Trackback module/plugin/snippet setting like this.
