I am using a flash player by Flash Nifties
http://www.flashnifties.com/, which come bundled with a handy PHP file that autogenerates an XML Playlist to feed the player. You set the directory it looks to in the "$file_dir" variable right at the top of the script, and it is called on every html page which has a player.
The thing is the site I’m building is going to have a flash player on just about every page and that means I would have to have a separate instance of this PHP file for each flash player (due to the "$file_dir" variable). That also means that if the client wants to add a news page (that would have a new player), he’ll have to manually upload a new PHP file.
My PHP knowledge is nil (hopefully that will start to change soon...) but I imagine I need to be able to make the "$file_dir" variable dynamic. In the rest of the site I have been using media & image directories that are named after the page alias, so that I can use the [*alias*] TV to link directly to the right directory.
Ideally I’d be able to do something similar with this.
-I’ve tried just placing a directory path within the PHP file eg: $file_dir="assets/media/[*alias*]/video"
That doesn’t work, as I imagine it is not being parsed by MODx (being an external file)
-I’ve tried pasting the content into a new Snippet with the same variable as above and that doesn’t work either.
(Most probably because that is not how you build a Snippet!)
