MODX integration with 2 SMF Forums

Ok so on my website I have a forum for all the website related stuff and misc and I have it integrated with modx thanks to the SMF CONNECT module and so that has been working fine for months. But now I am creating an online game for the site and I created a separate forum for it to manage the messages and discussions for the game...but I want it to be integrated with the site as well (though it will be displaying different display names..so people won’t always know what game character belongs to which user..and because it is displaying different names that is why I made a separate forum..plus then the players will only get in-game alerts about messages pertaining to the game)

So what I did was upload another copy of the SMF Connect and edit the install files to change the name of the module (so that I could have two different modules) so it appeared to work fine...the site is now working in conjunction with the new forum and I have two different SMF Connect modules running...but then I realize that MODX is no longer authenticating for the original forum ..I’ve looked in the code (most importantly the bridge itself) but I can’t figure out what on earth isn’t working right.


Any suggestions to how I can (I certainly don’t mind editing code) have MODX authenticate for both forums when I log in? It seems like it would be simple..just add another cookie...for now I’ve had to resort to disabling the form redirection and letting people login twice...but that is rather annoying.

I don’t think you’ll be able to pull this off without a completely custom solution. What happens if two totally different people register with the same username on the two forums?

I must be missing something here because I don’t see what the problem would be; if when a person decides to register they can only register via the site (the forum redirects them) and then the site creates the user not only for itself but also in both databases; where is the problem?

The site needs to:
1) handle registration
2) handle logins for the site and both forums
3) handle logouts for itself and both forums

right now the only problem is that the site is not authenticating for the first forum...which seems like it would be an easy fix I just need to know how to create the session for that first forum and where to put it...so basically just do the authentication it currently does with the one forum and do it two times; once for each forum.

The user synchronization currently works for the two forums...though i haven’t tested registration...maybe I’ll do that.

My misunderstanding; I thought you wanted two distinctly different sets of users. This should be more straightforward, but not trivial. As far as specifics, I don’t have any recommendations. Good luck!
