    Hi all,
i have a request for some pointers on general project strategies. I’m not expecting anything specific, just, if you please, a quick evaluation of my thoughts on how i want to do my next project and if you have any ideas how to do it better. I know there’s peolpe here with so much more experience than i have, maybe you could share some with me. As always, thanks in advance.

My client wants a multilingual site, which i feel very comfortable developing in Revolution. But specifically they want the different languages to be hosted under seperate domains and, here’s the catch, these domains and contents should be hosted on seperate servers in the respective countries. It’s an SEO thing someone at that company cooked up and i don’t even want to think about if this makes much sense. It’s just the way the cookie crumbles, SEO-wise.
So, to recap: several languages and each language has to appear to be served from a server in a given country.

I don’t want to have a modx installation for every server. It would make updating a pain for one. So i thought, i have one central installation where all contents are hosted. On the other servers i just put a small script, that fetches the pages from that server on request and delivers it. Of course it should have some caching functionality.
Seems like an ok strategy. But maybe you can come up with something simpler. If you think, that’s the way to go, i’d appreciated a little comment in that spirit.

    Maybe teach me, you can.

There’s a tutorial for multiple sites on http://www.modxcms.de/multiple-domains-with-modx.html

        Thank you, Paul.
But i wouldn’t bother you with a general question about a multi-domain site. I do not have problems with this concept, but thanks for the link anyway.

To clarify: the client doesn’t just want multiple domains on the same server, as they would still run under the same ip address. They want multiple servers. In different countries.
        See?

I wasn’t aware the tutorial stated they had to be on the same server, as long as the other servers can connect to the database there shouldn’t be a problem

Purpose: Multilingual websites (eg .de and .com), several customers in one installation, editorial content on multiple domains, SEO fun etc...

If they connect to the same database (which i hadn’t thought of yet), i still would need a complete modx install on each server? I#m not sure if that makes things anymore complicated with future updates. My idea was to build a script that fetches the rendered pages from the central server and just cache it. Have to think about it. Thanks for your input, Paul. Cheers.

Did you ever come up with a solution for this? I have a two projects where multiple sites running from different servers and IP's are a requirement.
