how to get a plugin to output to a TV?? Help...

Hi Guys,

I’ve been trawling the forums for about 4 hours now and don’t seem to be getting anywhere fast, so I throw myself on the mercy of the modxerati grin

I’ve written a plugin that takes the value of a TV (using getTemplateVarOutput()), does something to it and I want it to write that back to a different TV.

can anyone give me a clue where to look??

hmmm....

can’t get docmanager to work, it won’t update a TV in an existing document (and there’s other posts saying people are having the same problem)

I guess I’ll try and update the database directly and see how it goes

if anyones got any other ideas I’d be happy (delirious, actually) to hear them...

Not sure if this helps, take a look at the manager/processors/save_tmplvars.processor.php file to see how TVs are saved.

Here’s a really basic example. Just tested on WAMP / latest modx version:

include_once('../../modxapi.php'); // http://modxcms.com/MODxAPI-Library-865.html
require_once('../../assets/libs/document.class.inc.php'); // http://modxcms.com/Docmanager-881.html
$modx = new MODxAPI();
$doc = new Document(51); // the doc id we want to access
$tv = $doc->Get("tvdocumentTags"); // get contents of TV "foo": note the prefix "tv" here!
$doc->Set("tvextraHead", "<!--	" . strrev($tv) . "		-->"); // do something with TV 1 and save value in TV 2
$doc->Save();

To avoid "Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated" problems, I’ve added this in my .htaccess file:
php_flag allow_call_time_pass_reference On
