usergroups restricted to what they can see in manager

HI All,
am working on a site that has several staff needing to edit their own parts of the site.
We set up usergroups, roles and document groups, assigned the person to the role, person to usergroup, documents to document groups and then document groups to usergroups.
What i had hoped would happen was that those site editors would only see their own pages to edit in the manager - but this has not happened.
They can edit everything and I cannot work out how to restrict not only what they can see in the document tree, but also what they can edit.

Have read and re-read the documentation and I cannot see anything obvious I have missed out.
I tried putting all other pages in to their own adminonly document group, but then they stopped being visible on the website!?
Am I going mad? (ok dont answer that)

Any guidance or missing manuals would be gratefully received.

No, you would need to make all pages private in order for your users in specific groups not to have access. All pages in MODx are public unless added to a specific document group tied to a user group the user does not have access to.

Is this something that will be integrated in the future? It seems strange the a user who only has access to a group of pages can still see all other pages in the site. It would be useful if we can hide the ones they don’t have access to. This way departments, clients etc. can see what everyone else is doing.

Just a thought.

You can do that now, it’s just not the most convenient way to do it (as described in my previous post).

Sorry, but I disagree. You CANNOT do what Sam and I are asking with the current version. I did a test as you said and the pages still appear as greyed out.

It’s not just about restricting access (that part of your post is possible) but it’s about HIDING pages that are not accessible to a user so they don’t even see it at all. Unless I am missing something this is not possible currently.

I have since found a way of doing this - well to be more specific, I found someone who has worked in modx and is a very helpful developer.
He reconfigured my client’s site for me in about half an hour, so that it works exactly how i want it to, with each editor having their own pages viewable and them not being able to see other peoples pages in the manager.

I can highly recommend this developer, and the company he works for. Give them a call - the guy is called Nick Crossland, and the company RCKT http://www.rckt.co.uk

I am surprised that I was told it couldnt be done, when it clearly can be done exactly how i want it to be done, in the current version of modx and still have all pages viewable publicly on the website.
Give him a shout if you need help - it worked for me.
