Hi,
i am new to the modx CMS. At the moment i am testing if it will fit with what i need it for. I think it does, but actually i got a problem with protected user areas.
I need 2 (later more) different user groups wich contain different users. And when one user logs in then he should be able to see content wich is only visible for his group!
--------------------------------------------
For example an annonymus user is able to see:
|-home
|-login
If user-1 has logged in he can see:
|-home
|-content only for users of docgroup-1 (where user-1 is member of)
|-logout
If user-2 has logged in he can see:
|-home
|-content only for users of docgroup-2 (where user-2 is member of)
|-logout
--------------------------------------------
My content is like you can see in the attachment.
I am very thankfull for every help i can get!
so far,
fabian
PS: Does it have anything to do with the membercheck?
Is my Content i build up right? Or do i need to set it up in a different way?
When you edit the page that should be restricted to a particular document group you can set the permissions in the section "Access permissions" in the bottom. This will make the page show up only when logged in with a user in that doc-group.
MODx snippet-glossary 101:
Ditto = Content Lister -- Wayfinder == Menu Builder -- Jot = Comment Control
Hallo Kleist,
i understand what you mean and i already did this. Maybe i need to specify my post.
It works kind of partly like the fact that the restrictions work. So nobody is able to see the content of an other protected group. But the links in the menu do sometimes not dissapear. Or even the wrong link shows up(e. g. i first login as user-1 than logout and relogin as user-2 and still the link of the protected area of user-1 is visible for user-2. But just visible not accessable. So when i click on it it won’t work). So the menu behaves not like i want it descriped it above.
So all in all it works somehow, and nobody sees content of another protected user but the links are visible sometimes. Which they should definately not.
mfg, fabian

Sounds like cached pages. Try making your Wayfinder snippet calls uncached [!Wayfinder...!]
Hi Susan,
thx for your reply.
I didn’t use the wayfinder at all i think at the moment.
Just have a basic page set up and use the Menu on the right side. I think this one isn’T a wayfinder menu, is it?
Well, just had a meeting and they said they i have to harry up with deciding what CMS i will set up. I like the modx stuff so i need to get this working somehow that they don’t force me to use another. So you maybe have an IRC channel or so?

@ Susan
My page looks like your hompage. The menu looks like the one on your hompage (www.sottwell.com) at the right side. Template and so on is all the same. Just less content.

That is a totally untouched default minimal installation (the front end, anyway). All I’ve done to it is add content. Feel free to log in to the Manager and look around.
