Hi, I have installed FCKEditor 2.4.2, and everything went fine apart from:

    1. When I go into editing the page, the images on the page I am editing just won’t show up, placeholder show up as broken links, the funny thing is that when I switch back to TinyMCE the images show up again. huh

I think there must be a mis-configured url in the FCKeditor script, I hope someone will have some tips for me?

I double checked my assets/images folder and subfolders has 777 permission.

    Thanks!!

I use FCKEditor 2.4.3 and in my case it’s the other way around: in the editor I get broken links, but on the webpages everything works fine.

You could try the new version. If this doesn’t work, try to set Rewrite Browser Paths to No. With older versions this has worked fine for me.

hello, I have just upgraded to FCKeditor 2.43, but still the same problem.

The images won’t show up on the wysiwyg FCKeditor, but they do show up on the final output of the html page...

hmm.... sorry I am a just a beginner, please tell me how do you set the ’Rewrite browser path to No’, thanks!

It could be a configuration problem with GD and not being able to generate thumbnails. Also, you might try switching to TinyMCE, as more work has been done on that front.

Problem fixed! I emailed Jeff the creator, and this is his solution:

"Go to Tools->Configuration and check the File Manager Path under File Manager. Sometimes a relative path doesn’t work and you have to alter it so that it reflects the full path to the site directory on the server.

Also check the Resource path and Resource URL settings under Interface & Features. I think the Resource URL is what is used for the URL of images. A relative path usually works...but try giving it a full URL (ie. http://www.mysite.com/assets/). I’ve had to do that in the past for a few sites."

The above works for me, sweet! Big thanks to Jeff! grin

But wait. One problem solved, another one arises:

After some more tests runs I found another bug to resolve:

              1. When inserting images, the ’FCK resource browser’ doesn’t want to show image thumbnails, at a guess I think now the manager thinks you are coming from the outside, and somehow denied permission to allow thumbnail display?

Without being able to see the thumbnails, it is hard to try to insert images.

              Any ideas?

              Cheers grin

Yeah, I personally like the simplicity of TinyMCE, but my client likes how the FCKeditor is more ’Microsoft Word like’, and has useful page templates for editing. Thanks for all the good works done on Modx and the support forum! thumbs up!!
