upgrade tinymce from 2111 to 212

hi all

i’ve been trying to upgrade tinymce2111 (default install in modx 0.9.6) to the newer version 2.1.2 by following the install instructions on the download page. i must be missing something. i unzip and it creates the folder tinymce with all the subfolders. it tells you to upload the folder to the root of the modx site, so i upload the entire tinymce folder to the root. it ends up in the same level as the assets, install, and manager folders. i go and run the install and go through all the prompts. i select upgrade and get to the toggle screen. i uncheck everything except tinymce, which still shows ver 2.1.1.1. i finish the install and nothing seems to happen.

then i went in and deleted the tinymce2111 folder from assets/plugins and replace it with a tinymce212 folder, and of course that breaks it when i go back into manager i get a bunch of errors. i put the tinymce2111 folder back and it’s back to normal.

anyway, all this and i just want to be able to create tables in the doc content area. i read somewhere that i should be able to right click and get the create table option, but all i get is cut, copy and paste. is there a way to get it as a menu icon like the editor in this window.

so i guess i’m looking for answer to two questions. creating tables in the content area and upgrading to 2.1.2.

Ok...let’s start from scratch on this..

Sounds like when you ran the install that you got the main MODx install. That would be incorrect. The only option you should have gotten was the TinyMCE plugin...no other options! So...kill any existing install directory on the root of your site. You should never leave any install directory like that on your site. Once you are done with it make sure that it’s deleted completely. Now, looking at the contents of the TinyMCE 2.1.2 zip file, upload the new install directory to the root of your site.

You were corrent in making sure that the tinymce212 directory is uploaded to the assets/plugins folder. That’s definitely where it belongs!

Now then...run the install by going to www.yoursite.com/install. Install in TinyMCE and you should be good to go! The installer should notice any existing version and make the proper changes for you.

Regarding the table options, you have to set your theme to "Custom" and customize the available plugins and buttons. These sites should help you out:

In a nutshell though, just add "table" to the plugins configuration and "tablecontrols" to the last button row configuration and you should be good to go.
