Plugin Idea

I thought about it because I use many templates on a website I manage and the average users is not likely to think about setting it up properly. As I use different templates depending on where a document is located (it’s mostly based on the document’s place in the hierarchy, or on it’s parent’s template), I thought it could be great to have a plugin where you can define a set of rules to setup the template automatically on the document creation while hiding that file in the document editor from the unaware hands.

Now the 1 million bucks question is: would it be hard to do that? and the other question is: hard or not, will there be someone that will help me a little bit just by putting me on the right track and getting me started with some basic information (never made a plugin, and don’t even dream about how to change the document editor interface)?

Anyway, thanks in advance, even if you just tell me that the idea suck, but personnally I don’t think so!

I think that there is a plugin called "inherit parent template" or something like that, search for it and use as an example to build your own. To hide the template selecting field, see the "hide manager fields" plugin (can’t remember its name also, but it’s done by brett from "the man can" i think)
