Is there a funktion to get all children AND childrens children

I am trying to rebuild MenuDealer so it works completely up and down the document tree. I need to get all id numbers below some id not just the first level but all the way to the end of all branches.

Now MenuDealer only goes one level deep from Ultimateparent or the node (id to stop) if the id needed is not found in the first level then it stops and returns noting.

I looked into the API but I do not see a thing like this.

getChildIds() and getParentIds() does exactly what you are looking for and does not make even a single database connection to do it.
