ajax search - save search words to database

Hi. Saving search results to the database is a nice feature that I have noticed on several CMS’s - it offers a useful source of intelligence on site users.
For those in the know - how easy/hard would this be to implement in the AjaxSearch snippet ?
I’m supposing it may be more viable to create a different database to save results to and use a utility like Dadabik to access the data.

Any thoughts?

One approach is to create a plugin using Zend_Search. It uses Lucene-compatible indexing and you can programmatically build search indexes from anything you can get the data from in PHP. That would be the bomb, and is something I’m looking into for several projects myself. It’s part of the Zend Framework, and it is PHP 5 only, but I try not to use anything older than PHP 5.1 if I can help it anyway...
