    Hey Modx,

I am creating a profile for my client to log in and update their own content on site, and I’ve completed almost all my requirements aside from limiting their access to folders from within the file manager.

Currently when they load the file manager they are accessing the root install folder. I’d like to set up a folder specifically for the images they will be uploading so that they don’t get confused by the other files and folders within this root directory.

The image below indicates what they are currently seeing, and the red boxes show some of the files that they can see that I would prefer if they didn’t.

In addition to this, when the client logs in the Modx information panels (news, security notices etc.) are shown. How do I remove this from the manager login?

    Thanks!

For your first issue, set the rb_base_dir and rb_base_url system settings in your manager.

Not sure on how to modify the panels in Revolution. In 2.2 we’ll have..
      # Add Custom Dashboards - Ability to use files, chunks, etc as dashboard widgets, and order and arrange them as you please.
But not sure what’s already available for it now.

I haven’t tried any of this, but most of it should work.

There are two system settings that disable the two news feeds. (put "feed" in the search box in System -> System Settings. That will help some. There may be settings to disable the other boxes as well (or permissions).

You can also set a User Setting for filemanager_path for each user. They will only see stuff below the directory you specify there.

You can set a welcome_screen_url User Setting (e.g., the URL of an empty page). If the Resource tab and the Elements tab are hidden (take away the resource_tree and element_tree permissions). They should be looking at their own part of the file tree (maybe).

If you take away the users’ file_tree permission, the file tree should go away. I know that will kill that tab in the Manager main screen. I’m not sure they’ll still be able to navigate their part of the file section, though.
