I’m not sure I totally understand your question. Are you saying that Googlebot is casting a vote in some sort of a ranking poll? You could either use robots.txt to lock robots out of the cast a vote page, or cast the vote using a POST form rather than a GET.
I’m having the same issue, GoogleBot is seeing those as normal links.. so it "clicks" all the stars.. and all my pages have a 3 star rating.
I suppose the fix would be to get the agent type before running the snippet.
Oh look
http://webbake.com/tutorials/php-scripts/googlebot-email-notify I happen to know of a script to detect suck a one GoogleBot. I’m not knowledgeable enough to make it happen for this snippet however.

hi i also have this problem, does anyone know how to fix it, all my pages have got 3 star ratings!! please help someone...
ok i made the code change you’ve suggested but how do i know if it’s made a difference? isn’t it google causing the problem not comment spammers??
hmm. The idea was that google will not index the links => maybe no more cliks on it caused by googlebot...
just an idea..
or:
check if it’s possible to create a robots.txt rule for a defined class you put in the <a tag to exclude this for SearchEngines...
There does exist "section targeting"
<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->
for Google’s Adsense....
Maybe there does exist some similar for the SeearchBot...
otherwise I have no idea...
So. I tested the rel="nofollow" on my site for 2 weeks and more... No more 100 mysterious votes or else...
yeah it seems to also be working for me which is great. thanks.
