we are getting ready to launch a bi-lingual video based site that has a cms front end with the videos all shown within a flash app. The concept is to have a combination of a blog type front-end with commentary with all the video being seen within the flash app (that is powered by brightcove).
One of the key components is to promote conversation about each of the videos i’m looking for an ajax comment/review system that works within the flash app and also within the cms. Would MODX work? is their a module that could be adapted to fit our needs as well? within the flash app the video that is playing and the video that would be commented on has a unique videoID that is easily called.
Also, how does a non-programmer that wants to create a MODx site find a developer? Joomla has "Joomlancer"...

You could look into using the Jot component for commenting. All you would need is a way to get the video (and whatever additional) content needed for the Flash presentation into your Flash movie. I’ve done this on a few projects myself by simply sending dynamic XML responses from a MODx document I created with the purpose of retrieving what Flash needed to present (e.g. based on the request parameters and/or page id).
Regarding MODx developers, though no one has yet created a Joomlancer equivalent for MODx, you can generally find freelancers here in the forums. And with the activity level around this community, it won’t be long before resources such as this are available.

thanks for the suggestion. When I wrote the question, I was just looking around and trying to find a way for my flash video app to co-exist with a cms. I’m pretty smitten with Modx and think it best to transfer many of the functions that were being done in the flash app (we were managing the video catagories and the bilingual descriptions) to native Modx. The only flash part would be the player. this should be much more robust and easier to expand.
as far as the modx developers. Perhaps its as easy as allowing programmers that are looking for work to list their names and/or companies in a section under resources. one might take that further and allow users to comment on individual programmers (recommendations etc) their experience to give credibility to programmers or red flags... (but this is getting off point and i’ll repost under suggestions). The easiest way to promote Modx is not only to make a kick ass program but also make it easy for companies to launch sites who don’t have full time programmers on staff.
