I made a modification in NewsEditor (included in NewsManager 1.3.3) to have the possibility to edit the TV checkboxes. I use to make this modification the snippet created by uglydog (thank you!) "NewsPublisherTagging" (
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,4951.msg40296.html#msg40296). I just added the possibility to edit the TV checkboxes data.
It works like "NewsPublisherTagging" + "NewsEditor", you can create or edit content from the frontend with the plus of tagging your documents with the checkbox selection. The only new thing is that when you edit a document, you can change the selected checkboxes.
It works but I´m not a programmer and maybe (sure ...) there is something wrong. If you have the time to write it better, please make it ...

If you use it with NewsManager:
you can see that when delete a document (with NewsManager) the TV values in the table "site_tmplvar_contentvalues" relatives to the deleted document still exists. You only need to add
$tbltv= $modx->getFullTableName("site_tmplvar_contentvalues");
$modx->db->delete($tbltv, "contentid = $deleteid");
in this place (NewsManager):
if ($deleteid == $resource[$x]['id']) {
$tbltv= $modx->getFullTableName("site_tmplvar_contentvalues");
$modx->db->delete($tbltv, "contentid = $deleteid");
$modx->db->delete($tbl, "id = $deleteid");
nm_clear_cache();
$modx->sendRedirect($modx->makeUrl($postid));
