first some words to me: I have some knowledge of PHP, client-server programming and linux server administration. Behind a DSL flatline I’m running a debian server with modx (and other CMS’ I played around with some time ago).
Now that my first modx-site has gone live yesterday (
http://www.karatekunst.net), I’d like to do two things:
First: Tweak the G2 module so I can use friendly URLs with modx. Both systems can do FURLs, but not together. It should be about the mod_rewrite rules in their .htaccess files, correct me if I’m wrong. Maybe there’s s.th. more about parameter handling between modx and G2?
Could someone tell me how to start? Which modx / G2 module files should I take in account? Or do you think too that it is only about .htaccess?
Second: I’d like a calendar system to show a dynamic version of
http://www.karate-kata.de/index.php?id=6 (of the table shown there), the week view and maybe a month view would be enough. It should be able to have the normal training events automatically from week to week (repeating event) and to show special events like an weekend excursion somehow highlighted (bold, other colour or similar). I think none of the calendar modules I’ve seen here in the repository can do that, is that right?
I think extcal2 (
http://extcal.sourceforge.net/) should be able to do this, I would try and spend my time to modify it to work as a modx plugin - but again I would need some help to get things started. Does s.th. like a "Built a modx module HowTo" exist? Other ressources that would be of help in your opinion?
