Can you use other languages for Snippets?

it may sound like a dumb question but i have previously developed a bunch of fast CGI scripts (in Perl) to do certain tasks. while these could be certainly re-written in PHP for the same effect, i was wondering if it was possible at all to somehow get the output of these scripts into a MODx page. has anyone written or tried to write a "bridge" that would allow the output of an external script or program to get called back into MODx?

stone me if it’s dumb but just wanted to know if it was possible...

If you know how to integrate Perl scripts / script output into PHP, you then can use this to do the same in MODx. There’s no special MODx restriction on doing it; that’s a PHP thing.
