I’ll admit straight out that I’m pretty new to coding - XHTML & CSS are fine, but proper coding is a bit of a new thing for me... but I need to try and do something for a project I am working on at the moment...
www.scratchradio.co.uk is a student radio station that I have involvement in, and I’m currently re working the website for them. Now, I think I can probably create a template for the site that works, but there is a specific module that I want to create, and I’m not sure how to go about it -
When we are broadcasting we usually have the main story on the home page set to an "on air now" type article, which has previously been taken from a database, using our programme schedule to update it. For the new site, I wanted to extend this to a "now and next" module, that updates itself from a schedule database, using AJAX to accomplish the update without the need for page reloads. This would obviously link in with a full "schdule" module, that would be able to show the schedule for the whole day, week etc. If anyone could give me some pointers as to where to start with this, I would really appreciate it... As it does not seem that the current system can be ported across (and I wouldnt really want to as the site is really poorly structured and coded from what I can see).
Like I said I’m pretty new at this, so if someone would be willing to help me through the process it would be really brilliant. Obviously, after it is finished, the module would be made available to the rest of the community for anyone who needs it, by way of giving something back to those who might be willing to help.
