more help: this time, security

Hi again all,

Thanks for helping me learn and love MODx. Now, I’m trying to setup permissions.

So far, this is what I’ve done:

• Create a user - Contributor role
• Create a User group
• Put the user in the newly created User group
• Create a Resource group
• Link the User group and the Resource group
• Edit 3 pages so they are a part of the Resource group

The purpose, of course is to have 1-3 users only be able to edit 3 specific pages on our site.

My problem is this: before I linked the User and Resource, group, the new user could edit any page on the website. After I link the two, the user can edit all pages EXCEPT those 3 (which are now hidden) that are apart of the Resource group associated with the user.

I’m confused, and would love some help.

It sounds like you might be confusing Manager Users and Web users. Remember that when you preview a page from the Manager, you’re still seen as a Manager user, even if you log in as a web user.
