I am trying to rename a webuser called "Marielle" to the correct spelling "Mariëlle" (note the dots on the first e). When I edit the user and change the name and then save, the name in the manager is displayed as "Mari" so the name gets cut off at the special character.
Also I have a webuser called "José". This user is already in the system for a long time, but now I noticed that her name is displayed in the manager as "José". I am pretty sure that when I added her to the system that her name was spelled correctly. The strange thing is that I have a snippet that shows members from a webgroup on the website. There the name shows correctly as "José" even if it is displayed wrong in the manager.
Another strange this is that I can make pages that contain the characters é en ë in the content field just fine. It seems the problem only occurs in the Webusers section of the manager.
Hmm, I went to check my language settings and saw the following:
Systeminfo:
Database Charset latin1
Database Collation Charset latin1_swedish_ci
Configuration:
Character encoding Unicode (UTF8) - utf-8
The "latin1_swedish_ci" looks strange to me (I am located in the Netherlands, not sweden), but to be honest I got no clue what "Database Collation Charset" means and what it should be.
Could anyone give me some help to figure out what these settings should be?
