install errors

Checking if /assets/images, /assets/files, /assets/flash and /assets/media directories exists: OK!

Checking if /assets/export directory is writable: FAILED!

can someone help me with this?

I just uploaded everything to my server and started the installation process, I get these errors.
Can someone tell me how to correct them?

You’ll need to use an FTP program or your domain Control Panel to change the permissions on the ’failed’ folders to either 755 or 777 depending on your server set-up.

Ok, that shouldn’t be to hard
I checked and the folders are on 755 allready so I’ll have to make em 777
But doesn’t that make my site less secure? (I read that once)

and how about the files?
