That’s why the original themes aren’t included with 1.0, and if you upgrade and ran the installer in upgrade mode (as you always should when upgrading) it sets the configuration to use the MODxCarbon theme.

That’s easy enough to change; just copy manager/media/style/MODxCarbon to manager/media/style/MyStyle, then edit the site.css file to suit. Now you can select your style in the Configuration.

hence no way to select a different theme without hacking the css in a myStyle sirectory cloned from th MODXCarbon ?!
Correct. The theme will need to be updated. In all fairness, though, I’d suggest waiting until after the next release as more manager markup cleanup is on the way and theming should be easier, faster and more consistent.

Exactly as Ryan wrote, the changes are coming along well and in the end it would be insanely simple to customize the themes, and no doubt, a potentially way more feature rich ManagerManager will be possible.
You can keep an eye on svn for the changes and you will see yourself.
