un-publish doesn't work

I’m unable to un-publish a document - unchecking it and saving works - but the document is still published - is there any workaround?

Are you sure, the document is not unpublished?
If you’re viewing it in the same browser, being logged in as a manager, you’re still able to view unpublished documents.

the page still shows on the website and in the document properties it still shows "published" - it’s definitely not working - Safari and Firefox - so no browser issue

mmjaeger, I’m unable to reproduce this problem in my environment. Every possible mechanism for unpublishing is working for me.
Are you doing it from an Administrator manager user?

as admin, yes

are you still logged in when you look at the site?
if yes then thats the problem

as manager admin you can still see the unpublished pages, try logging out first.

I’m not talking about seeing the page in the tree - the website still shows up in the browser and the status is still shown as published after setting the page to unpublished and saving the page

Ah, I see - you have a publish date set in the past, and manually setting un-publish isn’t clearing it. Actually it might be for a microsecond, then it probably gets re-published because of the publish date. For now, try removing the publish date. I was just able to reproduce the problem, and work around it in this way.

taking out the publish date did the trick - however, I think un-checking the published check box should do the job regardless of a publish date.
