Hey Modx,
I have been working on a port of a HTML/CSS/Jquery site to MODx, in order to give the client the ability to edit the site and update their own content, and am almost able to deliver the site live.
I have hit a hurdle at the last stage of the process - I have ported the html, css and j functionality and created editable template variables that are working great, but am really struggling with the user aspect of MODx.
I want to create one login profile to deliver to the client, that will allow them to update a few rich text variables, and a chunk that comprises an image with a weblink.
So far I have tried a few methods including duplicating full admin capabilities and gradually removing permissions (this method technically allows me to give my client a login that would allow for TV updating, but they are not tech savvy and there are far too many options and ways they could break the site), and brief forays into creating user groups. The documentation is really difficult to decipher, and I have no previous experience administering sites with users at all.
I found a guide here:
http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Permissions+-+Resource+Policy : that mentions "...is given to users on any context who want to have basic object access to content."
That seems to indicate that a user with that profile would be able to edit the fields that I would like them to have access to, but I can’t seem to do this. I created a user, added them into the default group ’ContentEdit’ with ’Resource Policy’ enabled, but when I try to log into the MODx manager using the profile I created I see:
"Permission denied!
You do not have the proper access policy permissions to view this page. If you feel this is in error, please contact your systems administrator."
What am I missing here? It feels like this should be very straightforward, but I have now spent hours and hours trying to come to terms with the terminology and methods of editing user info with no success.
Please help!
