Is ModX on Freenode or some other IRC channel?

We’ve not set up a channel for it anywhere... hmmm... interesting idea. Honestly I’m not a heavy IRC user, but have taken advantage of them on occassion with other projects (particularly asterisk.org).

How many folks here would use IRC?

I have a friend with an IRC server, and if you want, he can probably set up a channel for modx.

I am a heavy IRC user... because I am addicted to the Internet.

            Jabber anybody?

It would be really cool to develop some jabber plugins that could IM you with certain events.

I would use IRC but I agree with Adam about Jabber which I like better... IM notification via Jabber would indeed be very nice !!!

                  1. Jabbix http://www.jabbix.com et http://www.jabbix.net
                  2. JWChat http://jwchat.sourceforge.net/about.shtml
                  3. PHPOpenChat http://phpopenchat.org/
                  4. Blab http://www.hot-things.net/blab.php
                  5. Punjab http://punjab.jabberstudio.org/

Did someone talk about an integration module ? smiley)

If you went to IRC you risk solutions and advice only been provide through one communication medium, and those who don’t use it missing out. You can end up with multiple queries for help for the same problem from different users on different mediums.

I believe that central distribution of information is the best method. If you want to send it via other mediums it should be replicated from the central source not multiple independent stand alone sources.

I really have to agree with EVERYTHING BriggSys said here. Does anyone have any ideas on a medium that is more universally accessable from novice to expert that the forums. I believe that the forum here is a most basic means of idea exchange and distribution of solutions, but it is very effective, and anyone with access to a internet browser can explore the forums and participate if they like.
