    Hello all,

I’m looking for two specific features to add to MODx Revo. I’m not sure if either exist or if they are possible, so I’d like to see what the community has to say.

1: Link Checker. I’m thinking an addon that you click "Run" and it runs through all resources and checks for any broken/missing links.

2: "Aggregate" or Pull Content from one site to another. Basically, a client I work for has 10+ sites that they would like to be able to pull content from one into another, if need be. I’m aware this could be done with RSS, but I wonder if there is a better, more "MODx" way.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with these? Thanks!

I’m not an expert (by any stretch of the imagination) but I expect the following are theoretically possible:

      1. A plugin to check resources on Save for the existence of content in all links.

      2. If you used contexts, then all content for the sites would be in the same database - the issue would be in getting the access permissions and context settings to play nice with each other.

Another way would be to have a plugin that creates symlinks of selected items on creation of ’master’ resource, in specific contexts. A big enterprise-level CMS I used to work with worked in this fashion (for multilingual or multi-publisher versions).

Someone from the core team will be along in a minute to say you can do both already with three lines of impenetrable code - or at least that’s what usually happens. grin

        1. You can use a tool like Integrity(MAC)
        2. I don’t see pulling content in EVO working too well when you use TVs. Maybe if you use the same TV names, define some content guidelines and you create a custom module.

          1. How about this: http://validator.w3.org/checklink/
          2. I don’t know any way other than RSS or scraping the pages the old-fashioned way.

            Doesn’t work for me.

I get Error: 404 Not Found for http://modxrules.com

For #2: The MODX way would be to use Revo and run everything from the same installation as different contexts most likely.

Ryan - Are there any good tutorials for this? The RTFM documentation isn’t very sufficient in explaining the idea of contexts.
