I’m on a Mac so I can ssh through Terminal. I guess I could give that a try.
Try using cPanel’s File Manager to check and set the permissions. FTP programs aren’t always able to set them.
I’m also wondering if the file *ownership* could be a problem (or mod_security), but verify the permissions in cPanel first.
Permissions are the same in cPanel as in the FTP program (777).
Is it possible that suPHP or suExec are used by the host? In that case you want 755 for directories and 644 for files.
Maybe. I could try it, but I think may have already done that. I’ve tried so many things it’s getting hard to remember.
Could it have something to do with FckEditor?
I just took a closer look at the screenshot you posted. It looks completely normal (as bluespark tried to point out above). Everything on the list but index.php is a *directory* (which you can’t edit or view). Index.php, (which you can edit and view) shows the binoculars and the check mark.
Are you sure you have a problem?
Yes, there’s a problem. No one is able to add any images to documents which isn’t normal. It throws a 404 error every time any one tries to insert an image. The File Manager isn’t working. I guess the fact that I can’t see the edit or view icons is no big, but in every other modx site I’ve built I’m able to browse directories.
Turns out it had something to do with my .htaccess file. I replaced it and everything is working again.
